Another option is the Digitech Whammy. It even has a nice Chorus sound in Detune mode. If you plan on keeping your Telecaster though you really should consider eventually installing a Bigsby B5.

I've got one and you can dial in some great settings. Another method would be to run a vibrato pedal in front of a fuzz. I use a Malekko Analog Vibrato into a Fuzzface clone sometimes for a more "controlled" vibrato sound.

You really need a Jaguar, Jazzmaster or a Mustang as the tremelo system on these guitars (when modded with tape to make it hang a bit further away from the strings) enables you to use the tremelo arm without compromising your strumming at all. Any other tremelo system I've used has gotten in the way of strumming either a bit or a lot.

Also, I wouldn't use pitch shifting pedals to do it. Using a pitch pedal will just change the pitch of the guitar signal as a whole, when Kevin does it he uses alot of chords that have 2 or more of the same note in them, so when the trem is used these notes drop at slightly different pitches making it's own unique sounding chorusing/doubling effect.


Of course you'll be able to get something similar sounding by using different guitars and/or utilising pedals to do it, but if you wanna do it right, this is really the only way.

As you can see, there's not a huge amount in it, but the difference in feel is amazing!
I simply used a bench vice to bend the arm into shape. I did have to tinker with the plug-in bit to get it to fit. I think I put it in a lathe before I bent it and used a file to copy the cross-section of the original unit. Better sort this out before you start beding, otherwise you just make life *really* difficult for yourself!
